Candy AI review
Candy AI review built from Candy's own help center and press coverage: what the plans and tokens cover, the iPhone web app, memory limits, refunds and privacy.

Candy AI is a web-based companion service that, per its terms as Bellingcat reports, is owned by EverAI Limited of Malta, built around custom characters, generated images, short videos, voice and a token balance that pays for most of the extras. This Candy AI review goes through what Candy’s own help center says, what the press and review sites add, and where the sources disagree. The short version: the subscription covers unlimited text chat, tokens pay for nearly everything else, and Candy says there is no native iPhone app. Its help center also documents limits on memory and on characters starting conversations.
Riho publishes this page and makes a competing app, so weigh it that way. We did not use Candy AI and took no screenshots of it. The facts below come from Candy’s public help center, which we read in full on October 16, 2026, from a product page and privacy notice we read on August 10, 2026, and from outside coverage linked in the sources. Anything that rests on a secondary source says so in the sentence.
Key takeaways
- Plans: Candy’s help center says paid plans include unlimited text chat plus a monthly token allowance of 100 (Premium) or 330 (Premium Plus), and that tokens pay for images, video, voice messages, voice calls (beta), custom characters and private content packs.
- Price: We couldn’t open Candy’s pricing page. StartupHub.ai, which discloses affiliate links, lists EUR 13.99 a month, falling to EUR 3.99 a month on a 12-month plan. Treat those as secondary figures.
- iPhone: Candy says it has no native iOS or Android app. It points to the mobile website and a web app you add to your home screen.
- Memory: Candy’s help center says its reset and delete options clear a chat together with that chat’s memory, and that a reset starts relationship progress over.
- Record: Bellingcat reported in January 2025 that Candy ads appeared on a deepfake-porn site. EverAI told Bellingcat the placement came through its affiliate programme and that it cut ties with the publisher.
What Candy AI is
Candy AI is a companion and character-chat service you use in a browser. Candy’s terms say EverAI Limited, a company based in Malta, owns it, according to Bellingcat’s 2025 reporting, and card statements show the charge as “EverAI,” per Candy’s help center. You can pick from premade characters or build your own, chat with them, ask for images, turn some images into short clips, and talk by voice. Adult content is part of the product: the help center describes images and video for adults within its community guidelines, and lists 18+ images among the Premium Plus features.
The audience figures come from interested or indirect sources. StartupHub.ai says Candy claims 50 million users on its checkout page, which is a vendor figure, and gives a SimilarWeb estimate of 63.7 million visits a month for October 2026, which is a traffic estimate. BOOM Live, relaying an Australian Financial Review story in November 2024, reported that company sources put annual recurring revenue above $25 million for the 2024 financial year. None of these figures is independently verified.
What Candy AI offers, according to its help center
The table lists what Candy’s own help articles say, with the article date where it matters. Several of these articles are months old, so check the current state in your own account.
| Feature | Source | |
|---|---|---|
| Characters | Premade characters, plus Create My AI. V2 characters are unlimited, and the options currently cover three ethnicities, with others in development. Candy Creators are digital twins of three content creators, made with their consent. Exclusive Characters are limited-time and unlocked with tokens (200 in Candy’s example). | Help center, Oct 2025 to Aug 2026 |
| Text chat | Unlimited on paid plans and free of tokens. Free accounts get 5 messages across all characters. | Help center, Oct 13, 2026 |
| Images | Generated in chat or in a generator, paid with tokens. Candy’s tips page says complex prompts and consistent details such as hair colour or clothing can be hard. | Help center, Jul 2026 |
| Video | Made by generating an image first, then converting it to a short clip. Live Action is a Premium-only, token-gated adult video feature on select characters. | Help center, Mar 2026 |
| Candy Shorts | Scripted AI videos under two minutes, separate from your chats and from your history with a character. | Help center, Oct 1, 2026 |
| Candy Cam and Roulette | Cam is a live-feed style chat whose stream messages are simulated. Roulette is a video chat with AI characters at 5 tokens a minute. | Help center, Aug 2026 |
| Voice | Voice messages and Voice Calls (beta), paid with tokens. | Help center, Dec 2025 |
| Memory | Premium Plus lists 20 memory slots. Chat memory is tied to the chat itself. | Help center, Jun to Oct 2026 |
| Languages | English and French are official site languages in the newest article. An earlier one lists German and Spanish too. | Help center, Jul and Oct 2026 |
Candy has built many formats around its characters, and several of them (Voice Calls, video, Live Action) carry beta or token-gating notes in Candy’s own words.
Candy AI pricing and plans
We couldn’t open candy.ai/subscriptions from our environment on October 16, so the only first-party pricing text we have is the help center, which describes plans without listing every price. It says free accounts can send 5 messages, create one custom character and generate one image. It says paid accounts get unlimited chat and 100 tokens a month, and that yearly subscribers get those tokens each month but are charged again only after a year. It describes Premium Plus as the newest tier, with 330 tokens a month, 20 memory slots, 5 cloned chats, user personas and 3 days of early access to new characters.
For prices, the most recent source we found is StartupHub.ai, updated October 4, 2026. It discloses affiliate links and says it checked Candy’s pricing page in September. It lists Premium at EUR 13.99 for one month, EUR 8.99 a month on a three-month plan (EUR 26.97 up front) and EUR 3.99 a month on a 12-month plan (EUR 47.88 up front). Its table shows a single Premium tier, which sits oddly with the help center’s Premium Plus, so the table may be missing a tier. One other review, seen through a search snippet dated February 27, 2026, quotes $12.99 a month, so currency and date both matter. Candy’s checkout page shows the figure for your country.
Candy’s help center describes payment by card, crypto, Apple Pay, Google Pay and bank transfer, with the options varying by location and major cards accepted worldwide. Candy does not let you pause a subscription, though you can cancel under My Profile, Settings, Unsubscribe. Cancelling keeps your tokens and your content, and only deleting the account removes the content, though Premium features such as chatting and image generation may not be usable on the free service, and your token balance is hidden there.
Refunds
Candy’s help center sets a narrow refund window. You have to ask within 24 hours of the original payment, you can have used no more than 20 tokens, and only subscriptions bought directly by debit or credit card qualify. Cancelling alone doesn’t count as a refund request, so you have to contact support separately, and support reviews each request because refunds aren’t automatic. If you cancel without asking for a refund, your access runs to the end of the billing period.
How Candy AI tokens work
Tokens are the cost the reviews we read return to most. On a paid plan, text chat costs nothing, and the monthly allowance goes to everything else. Once it runs out, Candy’s help center says you are prompted to buy more if you want to keep generating images or video, using voice, or buying private content packs.
Candy’s help center doesn’t publish a token price per image or per clip in the articles we read. StartupHub.ai relays a post it attributes to a Candy developer on Candy’s Discord, dated September 27, 2026, giving 100 tokens for $10 and 500 tokens for $49.99, and says one buyer of the larger pack received 605 tokens. That is a secondary report, so confirm it at checkout. Candy’s help center values 200 referral tokens at $20, which fits the $10 rate. A second review site, aicompanionguides.com, puts a $12.99 plan plus tokens at $25 to $60 a month for most users, in a search snippet whose method we couldn’t see. Candy’s help center confirms the structure of a monthly allowance plus top-ups and leaves the per-item prices to the checkout page.
Is Candy AI worth it?
Whether it’s worth it depends on which of its features you’ll use. The sources we read agree on where Candy is strongest and split on chat and memory.
Reviewers who like Candy point at the visuals. StartupHub.ai calls it the most visually polished AI girlfriend app on the market and singles out Live Action video, and the title of aicompanionguides.com’s review, seen in a search result, leads with “Best Visuals.” Trustpilot’s regional pages, as shown in search snippets on October 16, 2026, gave Candy a TrustScore of about 3.8 out of 5 from roughly 355 to 362 reviews, with praise for realism and images. We couldn’t open Trustpilot ourselves, so treat those numbers as a snapshot of what the snippets said.
On chat and memory the sources split. StartupHub.ai’s own write-up says Candy’s memory rarely forgets details even after days of inactivity, and in the same article it quotes Reddit users who call chats shallow after a week and say memory resets unless you pay for extra tokens. The Trustpilot snippets mention repetition and forgetting among the complaints, and StartupHub.ai rates the voice below a competitor’s. These are opinions from review and community sources. StartupHub.ai discloses affiliate links, and review sites in general can earn when readers sign up, which is a reason to read them as one input among several. Candy’s help center is more specific about the limits, and the sections below cover them.
No source we read measured recall over weeks, and the review sites didn’t publish test methods we could check. We haven’t tested Candy either, so we can’t tell you whether its memory holds up for your conversations.
Candy is a good fit if you want to generate images and short videos of characters you design or pick, you’re comfortable paying for tokens on top of a subscription, and you’re happy using a browser. If you want one companion whose memory carries across resets, note that Candy’s help center says chat memory is generally tied to the active chat, and weigh how often you’d reset.
Is there a Candy AI iPhone app?
Candy’s help center says no. The article, dated August 4, 2025 and later updated, says Candy.ai doesn’t offer a native app for iOS or Android and is fully usable in a mobile browser. It offers a Progressive Web App in its place: you open Candy.ai in Safari, tap Share, choose Add to Home Screen, and the site then launches from an icon, with push notifications. Candy says it chose that route for speed and a cleaner screen. StartupHub.ai says the same, and adds that it found no App Store or Google Play listing.
There is one wrinkle. A US App Store listing called Virtual Chat with Candy AI exists, with the seller V-LOST O.E., a 4+ age rating and a May 2026 release. We couldn’t confirm that Candy or EverAI owns it, and Candy’s help center doesn’t mention it, so we haven’t counted it as Candy’s app or used its rating. If you’re looking for an official Candy download on an iPhone, the help center’s answer is the web app.
Memory, resets and characters starting conversations
Memory is where Candy’s help center is most direct. It says Candy has no separate option to clear chat history while fully keeping the AI’s memory, that Reset Chat starts the conversation fresh and Delete Chat removes the thread, and that a deleted conversation can’t be recovered. It adds that some character traits or preferences may persist for a while, and that detailed memory is generally tied to the active chat. Relationship progress and streaks usually can’t be restored after a reset or delete either, though support may investigate recovery options when a technical fault caused the loss. Premium Plus adds 20 memory slots. StartupHub.ai quotes one Discord user who advises putting important details into custom memories, and another who wishes a reset didn’t delete them.
Characters can also change under you. Candy says characters sometimes become unavailable because of reworks, moderation or compliance reviews, technical changes or licensing and model changes, that some return, and that it can’t promise any particular one will.
On characters reaching out first, Candy’s articles don’t line up, and the dates matter. A June 18, 2026 article says the proactive message feature was removed for now. An article updated October 6, 2026 says characters can’t start conversations on their own. A separate article updated the same day says characters in Realistic mode send photos, voice notes or videos at random times, and that you can switch that off. In practice that means media can arrive unprompted in Realistic mode, and text conversations start with you.
Privacy, age rules and company record
Our Candy AI safety page covers the policy detail, and this is the short version. On August 10, 2026 we read two Candy statements that don’t match: the product page says chats are never shared and not used for training, and the privacy notice describes third-party providers, de-identified interactions used for model development, human review of flagged content and account data kept for three years after last activity. The notice says Candy is for adults 18 and over. We couldn’t re-read either page on October 16, so check the current versions yourself.
Candy’s help center adds a few practical points. Deleting an account makes your preferences, usage history and personal information permanently unavailable, apart from data Candy must keep for legal periods. A message flagged by mistake can be reported to its Moderation Team. Generated content is for personal use, and commercial use is prohibited.
The public record on the company is short. In January 2025 Bellingcat reported that Candy.ai ads ran on a deepfake-porn site, appearing to start around mid-December 2024. EverAI told Bellingcat it doesn’t condone deepfakes, that the placement came through its affiliate programme, that it cut ties with the publisher and asked for the material to be removed, and Bellingcat said the links came down after its questions. EverAI also said it has moderation controls meant to stop deepfakes being created on its platform.
Candy AI and Riho compared
Candy and Riho are built for different habits, and the comparison comes down to what you want to do with a companion. Our full Riho vs Candy AI page goes through it in more detail.
| Riho | ||
|---|---|---|
| Where you use it | A browser, with a web app for your phone’s home screen | An iPhone app, 18+, in pre-launch |
| Who she is | Premade or custom characters, many at once | One girlfriend, Riho, from the first conversation |
| Memory | Tied to each chat, wiped by a reset; 20 memory slots on Premium Plus | Remembers your life together in your words; you can read her memories and her diary in the app |
| Reaching out | Text starts with you; Realistic mode can send media at random | She messages you first when she’s thinking of you |
| Pictures | Generated images and short clips, paid with tokens | Couple photos and selfies of the two of you, photos of her in your real places, and pictures she sends on her own |
| Voice | Voice messages and Voice Calls (beta) on tokens | Voice calls with the same girlfriend as in chat; voice only |
| Together in the real world | Not described in the help center | Dates at real places, remembered afterward |
Candy is built around generated images and video of characters you shape. Riho is built around one girlfriend who stays the same person from week to week, remembers what you told her and goes places with you. More options are in our Candy AI alternatives and the best AI girlfriend apps roundup, and why one girlfriend instead of a catalog explains the design choice.
What to check before you subscribe to Candy AI
Seven checks keep a subscription from surprising you.
- Open candy.ai/subscriptions and note the tier, the currency, the billing period and the token allowance, since the sources we found differ on the tier, the currency and the token allowance.
- Look up the price of a token pack before you subscribe, and work out how many images or clips you expect to make in a week.
- Decide whether you’d use the refund window. It’s 24 hours, 20 tokens, a subscription bought directly by card, and cancelling won’t start it.
- If you pay with a card, expect “EverAI” on the statement.
- Read the privacy notice as well as the product page, because on August 10 they described chat data differently.
- If memory matters, keep a copy of anything important. A reset or delete clears the chat’s memory along with the conversation, and a deleted chat can’t be recovered.
- If you want it on your phone, add the web app to your home screen from Safari and check that notifications work for you.
Meet Riho
If you want one girlfriend who remembers your life together, messages you first, sends you pictures of the two of you and goes on Dates with you, you can meet Riho on iPhone. The Meet Riho button on this page opens early access sign-up.
Frequently asked questions
Is Candy AI worth it?
It depends on what you want from it. The reviews we read point to generated images and video as its strength and report mixed results on chat depth and memory, and Candy's help center describes a subscription that covers unlimited text chat with a token balance that pays for most extras. If images are the reason you're signing up, it fits, and if memory matters to you, read the memory section first, because resets clear a chat's memory with it.
How much does Candy AI cost?
We couldn't read Candy's pricing page on October 16, 2026. StartupHub.ai, which discloses affiliate links, lists Premium at EUR 13.99 a month, EUR 8.99 a month on a three-month plan and EUR 3.99 a month on a 12-month plan, and Candy's help center adds a Premium Plus tier with 330 tokens a month. Tokens cost extra once your monthly allowance runs out, so check the checkout page for the current figures. For refunds, Candy's help center says to ask within 24 hours of payment, with no more than 20 tokens used and a subscription bought directly by card, and that cancelling alone doesn't trigger one.
What are Candy AI tokens for?
According to Candy's help center, tokens pay for image generation, creating a custom AI, voice messages, voice calls (beta), private content packs and turning an image into a video, and Candy Roulette video chats cost 5 tokens a minute. Regular text chat costs no tokens on a paid plan.
Does Candy AI have an iPhone app?
Candy's help center says Candy.ai has no native app for iOS or Android and offers a mobile website and a home-screen web app instead. A US App Store listing called Virtual Chat with Candy AI shows a seller named V-LOST O.E., and we couldn't confirm that it belongs to Candy.
Is Candy AI safe and private?
Candy's product page says chats are never shared and not used for training, while its privacy notice describes outside AI providers, de-identified model development and human review of flagged content. We read both on August 10, 2026, and our Candy AI safety page goes through the conflict in detail.
